An epidemic in Nigeria?

In three different cases of rape and sexual assaults, the police in Akwa Ibom State are holding four men in their custody.

The man, Esau Udom who allegedly forced himself on the girl sometimes in January 2020 in Odot 1 village in the Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He is telling the police all he knows about the illegal act and the resulting pregnancy.

Case 2:In another case, this one is more of a fraudulent act. A 38-year-old-man, Ekemini Asuquo, a self-confessed cultist confessed to luring another under-aged girl to a hotel. Gave her N1,500.00 (One thousand, five hundred naira) to forcefully have her carnal knowledge. But after satisfying his sexual lust, he grabbed the money from her. Threatening to kill her if she ever mention the act to anyone.

Case: This involves a serving NYSC member who was gang-raped by two men who pounced on her and forced her to have sex with them. When she went to charge her phone in the men’s apartment. In the compound she shares with the men.

According to a statement by Akwa Ibom police, all the suspects are in police net and would face the full wrath of the law for their dastard acts.

Nigeria is truly in the stranglehod of rapists and other sex offenders. A drastic action is required by all the layers of governments in Nigeria to protect our women. Some would say it is all about indecent dressing! We say it is about the personality of the rapists!
